Blizzards and flash freezes forecast for large swath of the nation.
A winter storm is forecast to stretch from the Pacific Northwest to the Texas panhandle and the Great Lakes region this week. The National Weather Service said, “The tandem of bitterly cold temperatures and an intensifying storm system over the Rockies and Central Plains by midweek, will mean treacherous travel for many locations along and east of the Rockies.”
Weather officials state that some states may experience record cold temperatures, estimating that many will have the coldest Christmas Eve and Christmas Day since the 1980s.
The storm system may cause tornadoes as it draws closer to the the East Coast.
